Sarka - the cake master

When she moved to Switzerland, little did Sarka know that she was about to unveil a hidden talent and passion.

Two years ago, because of the pandemic, she lost her job at a restaurant in the Czech Republic.

Her daughter, Klara, who was already living in Switzerland and working at Dorint Blüemlisalp Beatenberg/ Interlaken, asked the manager if there would be a job opportunity for her mother.

There was.

Sarka came to Beatenberg and started working in the kitchen, rinsing the dishes.

Soon after, she became responsible for preparing the breakfast - until everyone (including herself) found a hidden talent - baking.

In September, Sarka started baking simple tarts, but rapidly her creative side spoke louder, and the experimentation initiated. She initiated making more complex recipes with creative icings, themes, colours, flavours…

Her cakes became artistic masterpieces.

Dorint Blüemlisalp Beatenberg/ Interlaken guests can order the sweets for special occasions and celebrations.

What struck me the most was that she had no baking experience prior and her cakes are purely experimental. She does not follow any recipe and also doesn't write down anything she creates.

Thus, you'll never get the exact cake twice, and you also won't be able to reproduce it, even if you wanted to.

She did one of the standard tarts for the photo shooting, the one with which she discovered her talent. However, she showed me the other masterpieces she has done in the last few months, which truly inspired me.

So, whenever visiting Dorint Blüemlisalp Beatenberg/ Interlaken make sure to order one of Sarka's artistic creations 😉
